Fine Control

The motivation for using the PitchCommand Training Systems is that the pitcher wants to have razor fine control over both pitch placement and speed.

The PitchCommand System for developing the pitcher's control is now available. The better command of the strike zone means the pitcher will be throwing a lot of first pitch strikes and working ahead in the count. The following chart from "Shutting Down Hitters" by Keith Madison illustrates the importance of working ahead of the hitter.

Warren Spahn

"The plate is 17 inches wide. But I'm only concerned with 5 inches - 2 1/2 on one side and 2 1/2 on the other side. I never use the rest."

Casey Stengel
Control is putting the ball "as close to the plate and as far from the bat as possible."
